Tools Panel
Get real-time visibility into what your AI employees are doing. The Tools Panel shows every action as it happens, so you can follow along and understand the work being performed.
Overview
The Tools Panel is located on the right side of the chat interface. It provides a live view of all tool operations executed by the AI employee, including:
- File operations - Reading, writing, and editing files
- Command execution - Bash commands and their output
- Web searches - Search queries and results
- API calls - External service integrations
- MCP tools - Third-party tool interactions
Panel Tabs
The Tools Panel has several tabs to organize different types of information:
Tools Tab
Shows all tool operations in real-time. Each tool use appears as a collapsible bubble showing:
- Tool name and icon
- Brief summary of the operation (truncated to 24 characters)
- Expandable details with full input and output
- Status indicator (running, completed, or failed)
Files Tab
Quick access to the File Explorer to browse files created or modified by the employee.
Mail Tab
View sent and received emails when the employee has email capabilities enabled.
History Tab
Access previous conversations and sessions with this employee.
Auto-Read Feature
When enabled, the Tools Panel automatically switches to show the active tool as the employee works. This lets you follow along in real-time without manually clicking each tool.
How Auto-Read Works
- The panel automatically switches to display the currently executing tool
- When a new tool starts, the view updates to show it
- You can see exactly what the employee is doing as it happens
Pause Auto-Read
If you want to examine a specific tool while the employee continues working:
- Click on any tab (Files, Mail, History) to pause auto-read
- Click on a specific tool bubble in the chat to pause and view that tool
- Auto-read automatically resumes when you send a new message
No Data Loss
When auto-read is paused, tool information continues to be collected in the background. You won't miss any data - you can review all tools after the employee finishes.
Tool Bubbles in Chat
In addition to the Tools Panel, tool operations also appear as compact bubbles directly in the chat. These bubbles show:
- A brief summary of the tool action (24 characters max)
- Click to view full details in the Tools Panel
- Color-coded status indicators
Inline File Display
When an employee creates files (images, videos, documents), they can appear inline in the chat:
- Images and videos - Display directly in the chat with download and "Open in Explorer" buttons
- Other files - Appear as clickable links that open the File Explorer
Use Cases
- Debugging - See exactly what commands were run and their output
- Learning - Understand how the AI approaches problems
- Verification - Confirm that the right files were modified
- Monitoring - Track progress on complex tasks
